Week 19 - Almost Halfway!

Our little baby boy is now the size of a large heirloom tomato - six inches from top to bottom and he weighs around 8 1/2 ounces. Perhaps he is big enough this week for me to start feeling him move!

17 week appointment - It is a boy!

This was a momentous appointment! We were so excited to see our baby again, especially because we could find out the sex now. It did not take long for the technician to point out that our baby is a boy! We have decided to refrain from posting the pictures that show very clearly the evidence, but the technician said that our baby was a 'proud baby boy'.

Our little boy was so active during the sonogram. He kept flipping over, waving his hands, and we could even see his mouth move. We got to see his little fingers and toes, as well as some of his internal organs (heart, bladder, and kidneys). Everything looked great!

13 week appointment

Here is our baby! (S)he is 3 inches long and 13 weeks 2 days along. They say it is the size of a medium shrimp. The sonogram was amazing- we saw and now heard the baby's heartbeat! The baby seemed to be resting at first and it seemed to be unfazed by the prodding of the technician (a nice, calm baby!). However, with enough prodding the baby soon started moving around.

Here you can see the baby kicking me! (S)he was pushing off with the legs and the technician nicknamed the baby a swimmer. The baby continued to jump a couple of times and turn over a few times as well! I can't feel it though, at least not yet.

The technician was able to get a few different angles. Here the baby is facing us and waving hello. We also saw (though do not have a picture of) the top of the head, which was amazing because you can see the brain divided into its two hemispheres.

Ultrasound on November 28th

Our first ultrasound! The baby is 7 weeks and 2 days old in this image - the size of a blueberry! We found out we were pregnant on November 5th (my birthday!) and then had the ultrasound the day before Steve's birthday. It was a great month!
