7 Months Old!

While pregnant with Benjamin and also after he was born, I enjoyed all the experiences and milestones we have had. From his first movements and frequent hiccups in the womb, to his first smile and rolling over. However, I always looked ahead to wonder what he will be like at 6 months. From everything I heard, I imagined 6 months being a wonderful age for a baby to be. It was, indeed, a great month with so much development! It is kind of weird now that it is over! Of course, though, we look ahead to the many more wonderful things our son will bring us. I just want to say again how lucky we are to have a little boy like Benjamin in our lives.

Eating the key to his house

Looking very Irish with his green pullover (which I like because it reminds me of spring) and the reddish tint to his hair

I tried to capture an image of Benjamin taking a nap. You can see that he is sticking his butt in the air a little.
Recent Activities:
- Likes to 'share' things. He will be chewing on something then try to put it in my mouth for me to chew on, too.
- Rocks back and forth to music and when he is happy
- When I am holding him in my lap with him facing me, he tries to pull himself up by grabbing my shirt. He is not quite able to do this very well yet, though.
- Has excellent hand-eye coordination. When he first saw his 'house', he immediately rang the doorbell.
- Has clapped a couple of times after we clap for him. See video of this below.
- Gets up on hands and knees, but instead of scooting forward, he ends up scooting backward an inch.
- Still no teeth breaking through! The last two days, he has seemed bothered whenever anything touches his gums.
- He is very interested in what we are eating and often tries to grab for the food on the plate or from our mouth.
- When feeding him, he still likes to rub my shirt and grab my hair. However, he has started grabbing his own hair (now that he actually has some and it is long enough). He will take his pointer and thumb and grab some of his hair and then gently pull on it. Apparently, he is smart enough to know that he doesn't want to try to yank his hair like he enjoys doing for everyone else.
- He doesn't tend to fall when sitting up, though occasionally he will. He has sometimes fallen forward and face planted. Tonight, though, he lunged forward and ended up on his tummy a couple of times. Obviously, this seems to show more intent rather than just falling forward.
- His poop seems more formed (again, I know, not exactly a lovely image to suggest on his blog, but, again, I will want to remember!).
- His sleeping at night is still an issue. Last night he got up every 3 hours. So far, as I write this post, it has been 3 1/2 hours, so I'm hoping for more continuous sleep tonight!

Happy 7 Month Birthday, Benjamin! You are getting to be such a big boy, doing so many new things! I am so glad I was able to spend so much time with you and your Mommy and Daddy and actually be in on some of your new tricks! I love how you can dance to the music and clap your hands and how you always have a big smile for me! I miss you so much! Love and hugs and kisses, Grandma oooxxx
